How to manually update your PC via Windows Updates
The purpose of this KB is to walk users through the steps to manually updating their PC's via Windows Update built in tool.
Checking for critical/important updates
- Search for "Windows Updates" or "Check for Updates" using your taskbar search bar:

- Select the "Check for Updates" option
- Click "Check for Updates"

(Note: your last check for updates will be dated here to show how long it has been since your PC checked for updates. If this is longer than 2 weeks ago, you may consider checking more regularly manually if you notice issues)
- Allow up to 15min for the system to search for updates:

- If Microsoft finds updates, they will be listed below as well as their progress:

Allow these updates to fully complete and show either "Pending Reboot" or "Completed"
- Reboot your PC if any updates show "Pending Reboot"
- DONE!
Checking for Optional Updates
- Under the Windows Update window from above, select "Advanced Options"

- Click "Optional Updates"

- Check the box next to all available "Optional Updates" and then choose "Download & Install"

(Note: all optional updates are scanned with Microsoft Security and can be trusted due to this screening process)
- You will be brought back to the initial update window. Same as before, allow these updates to fully install

- DONE!
