How to Manually Navigate to a Folder

The purpose of this KB is to walk users through steps on how to access specific folders. Most often, this will come in handy for those who are trying to access as subfolder that they have been granted access to, but they do not have access to the parent folder so they cant just click through the file tree.

  1. Open your Windows File Explorer by searching for it in your windows search bar:

  2. Locate the navigation bar at the top and click it to begin typing:

  3. Type the file path or location of the file you wish to access and press ENTER (For Example: \\Server\Organization Data is the O Drive and \\Server\Organization Data\IDF is the IDF Folder in the O Drive)
  4. From here, you can pin the folder path as a shortcut so you can access it quickly!
    1. Click the 3 dots under the navigation bar and choose "Pin to Quick Access"

    2. Pinned items will show up to the left in your Quick Access panel:

  5. DONE!
NOTE: If you do not know the file path of the folder you are trying to access, please reach out to IT or ask someone who has access to the folder to provide this to you.
