How to Report Spam/Phishing Emails
The purpose of this KB is to guide users through the steps to reporting spam/phishing attempts, while sticking to security safe practices.
When addressing potentially unsafe emails, its important to first and foremost make sure you are following Email Safe Practice procedures before addressing any potential Spam or Phishing email.
How to report an email:
- NEVER reply to the unsafe sender(s)
- NEVER click any links or attachments in the email.
- REPORT the email by forwarding it to Spam@Appriver.com and in Microsoft Outlook (This notifies our internal spam filtering so we can get better!)
- ADDITIONALLY REPORT an email in Microsoft Outlook by right clicking the email in your inbox and selecting Report > Report Phishing (This notifies Microsoft and helps on a broader scale)
- DELETE the email once you have done the previous steps to avoid accidental exposure to the previous dangers such as clicking a link.
If you clicked any links or opened any potentially unsafe attachments, please disconnect your PC from the internet then contact michael@impactdf.org IMMEDIATELY.
If you are unsure if an email is safe or not, please submit a ticket so we can help you review it and make a determination! Just remember to follow the safe practices mentioned above at all times.
