- Q: Does our VPN detect when we are idle?
- A: YES, the VPN does detect if you are idle. If you remain idle for 120 Seconds (No data being sent or received in any way) your connection will be assessed to see if it needs to remain active.
- Q: Does the VPN disconnect automatically after a period of time?
- A: NO, the VPN does not automatically disconnect after a period of time. It will only disconnect if it cannot connect to your network, If you disconnect it manually, or if it detects you have become idle.
- Q: If I am idle, how does assessing my connection work?
- A: If the system see's your PC is idle with no data being transferred. It will check 3 times to see if data is sent afterwards in 120 second intervals. If after the 3rd attempt it still see's you aren't using the network, you will be disconnected from the VPN and need to sign back in.
- Q: If I am disconnected because I was idle, will I need to sign back in completely?
- A: YES, you will need to re-sign in and provide your Microsoft Authenticator code once more.
- Q: What qualifies as "Data Sent" to avoid being disconnected?
- A: Any time you use anything that requires the internet or connecting to network services like the O Drive, it counts as "Data Sent"
- Q: When I use the VPN, does the VPN only read when I connect to the O Drive, or can it see my internet traffic like using "Google", etc.?
- A: Anything that requires the internet will process through the VPN once connected to the VPN. Think of it like its own network that you are connecting to even though you remain connected to your own network.
- Q: Why is my network slower when I use the VPN?
- A: The VPN requires to make "Extra turns" in the internet world to ensure you are safe. Thus, its often a little slower than your connection without the VPN. However, if you experience extreme slowness or find it difficult to work on the VPN, please Submit a ticket so we can help you!
